Ring, City Engineer RE[ Grant Funding - CSO Projects DA: ientvaxy 9, 1994 94-110 Inst week I received a call from Steve Ndlaughlin of DEP regarding a possible source of partial funding for CSO projects. He tad been cartaetral by the U.S. Army Corps of ErgLeers and was told that rico Cors may receive some funding for great programs for = projects which could benefit same municipalities in Haire. Thea Corps requested that Steve ooniaet these municipalities and sutmlt a list of fntenntial CSO projects so t i y could get an idea of Hm exr n of reed, etc. Stave had no ad3itfaal details at the time, an I contacted John Craig. Chief of the Basin Manage ant Division of the U.S. Awry Corps of Engineers - New England to obtain further infarmatlan regarding this natter. Mr. Cravg indicated Heat in October, 1992 the U.S. Congress Sassed public law 102-580, of which section 307 (a attached) provided autMriaatian to awrwxiate 510.000.000 for the desia, and construction of water Crape tesie that an apistgsration of ano:t $2,000,ODU may occur this year. If this happens, the Corps will have the responsibility to rlavalo and administer a grant program. with copy $2,000,000 available, their current thinking is that a grant program mould be developed for design costs only, with no regni.mnl; for imrediate coistnv^tirn of projects Haat were designed unlet this program.. The Corps is requesting that wviicipslitiee sutait a list of possible projects to the U.S. " Oa of EngLaere for consideration. I mould anticipate that a formal application process will be established if the grant program is created.
