As provided for in the City's contract with National Garages,
Inc. the City has the option of renewing the current manageixent
contract for the operation of the Pickering Square Parking Garage
and Abbott Square Parking Lot. The management fee is included in
the operating budget of each facility. As called for in the
contract, this fee increases by a percentage equal to the Consumer
Price Index increase.
Also, part of the contract renewal is approval oftheannual
operating budget for each facility. (See attached information)

THAT WHEREAS, the National Garages has provided parking
facility management services to the City of Bangor for the
operation of Abbott Square Parking Lot and Pickering Square Parking
Garage and;
wNEHEAS, the contract provides for annual extensions of
the contract at the City's option and;
WHEREAS, National Garages has fulfilled the obligations
of the contract in a satisfactory manner and;
.wG9GzGz,'the City Council approves the proposed operating
budget for the Abbott Square Parking Lot and Pickering Square
Garage which is part of the contract renessal process.
THEREFORE, BE IT ORDERED THAT the City Manager is
authorized eond directed to execute the contract extension for the
Period of July 1, 1994 to Tune 30, 1995.

RE: Contract Extensions with National Garages for Pickering
Square Garage, and Abbott Square Parking Lot
DATE: June 6, 1994
National Garages Me operated Pickering Square Parking Garage
for a period of five (5) years and Abbott Square Parking Lot for
four (4) years. The contract calls for the City to approve the
actual operating budget which is incorporated into the contract
renewal process. The contract also calls for a management fee
increase based on the Consumer Price Index increase. This fee is
based on the number of spaces managed and is projected to be about
$8,900 for Pickering Square and $2,650 for Abbott Square.
Staff reccammends that the contracts for each of the facilities
be extended for another year. National Garages has performed their
job well and we continue to receive positive cofmdents about this
operation and the friendliness of their staff. We are pleased with
the decision to privative the management and look forward to
continued success. Please be aware that the contract between
National Garages and the City of Bangor will expire next year.
The proposed operating budgets for each facility is attached.
We believe that the budget realistically reflects the operating
costs of each facility and anticipated revenues for the upcoming.
