HomeMy WebLinkAbout1995-11-27 96-45 ORDERCOUNCIL ACTION Date: 11-2I-95 Item No 96-45 Item/Subject: Order, Making an Appointment to the Legislative Policy Committee (LPC) of the Naine Municipal Association (MMA) Responsible Department: City Council In June of 1994, the City Council appointed Councilors William M. Cohen and Charles M. Sullivan to represent the City of Bangor on the LPC. These appointments are for a two-year period which coincides with the legislature's term. The purpose of this committee Is to assist Maine Municipal in formulating their legislative positions for the year both in terms of MRA's own legislative program and in reacting to ether legislation to which is Introduced. The APC normally meets approximately once a month just prior to and during legislative sessions. These meetings are in Augusta on Thursdays, usually in the early afternoon. Council Chair Frankel has nominated Chris Popper to replace past Councilor Cohen on this committee. I have discussed this with Councilor Popper who has indicated a willingness to serve. Appointments to the Legislative Policy Committee are made by the full Council. This item is on the Municipal Operations Committee agenda and I will recommend that it have a recommendation to the full Council for its meeting.
