Commentary:
This Coancil Order is the first gap in the process M discontinue the portion of Patten Street lying
between Main Street and Helfer Street. This is the portion ofPanen Street which is encompassed by the
Shavers Supermarket Project proposed by the Boldos Company.
If this Order is passed, the City Engineer will send oat required notices, hold a Public Hearing, and make
a written report aM recommendation to the Council for Mrther action. Upon discontinuance the street
right�of-way reverts to the shorting properties, which will be the City and Boulos in this case.

ORDERED,
THAT
WHEREAS, Now Street was originally laid out and accepted as a Public Way between
Main Street and Th"nd Street, am]
WHEREAS, a major redevelopment project has been proposed for the former Geo
Works site and all other properties abutting the lower portion of Patten
Street between Maio Street and Helier Street, and
WHEREAS, the City or the process of acquiring said abutting properties rot lower
Patten Strep, and
WHEREAS, it is necessary to discontinue that portion of Patten Street between Main
Street and Haw Street in order for the redevelopment project to proceed,
and
WHEREAS, said portion a Paten Street is no longer needed for public access;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE FF ORDERED, that the City Engineer, anthill for and on behalf
of the Muoscipal Officers according to law, be aM hereby is authorized to discontinue a
portion ofPapen Street' said portion which is described as follows:
AR that portion of the 50 foot wide public way knowa as Patten Street laid out by
the City of Bangor on September 2, 1667, between the northerly right-oEway line
of Main Street and the southerly r tgbtrof--way line of Hillier Street, wreepting and
reserving a Public Easement to maintain and replace public utilities for sewer and
drainage services within the dlacoMmued street; and
BE 1T FURTBER ORDERED, THAT the City Engineer, N accordance with the
provisions of 23 UR.S.A, s. 3026, proceed to give best practicable notice to all abutting
property owners and to the Planning Board of the intention of said Municipal Officer; to

discontinue and vacate sold portion of Patten Suvet right-ofway, and make a written
return of said proceedings together with a detailed descdpfion of said right-of-way to be
discontinued and a list of possible damages as a result of said disoontinuancq and report
his findings to the City CmwWd fm further action
