The unit paces received for paving no severs dollars per ton higher than last your, but comparable to
prices being seen by MDOT and other communities in this area. Tbey are also close to the levels we
were paying 4 to 5 years ago. This increase is primarily due to higher aspbat prices this year. It should
be noted tbn we received a very low price last your from Centra Maine paving who was anidous to

The City I ngvseer has contacted the low bidder, Lave Connection, to discuss options to
achieve savings. Lane has indicated that they are willing to execute a change order that
would reduce the paving price by $1.05turn ff a small percentage of recycled aggregate
(from Winding City strcets) is allowed. This has been done by MOOT with fully
satisfactory results, and is recommended by the Public Services Department.
Total available funding for the 1995 program from Community Development Genual
Fund, Sewer Fond, 1995 CSO Projects, and Iv1DOT Nrglwity Block Good is
$952,687.00. The difference between this and the contract summer is adequate to cover
costs of preparatory work, inspection, administration, and allow a reasonable coningeacy.
Bid award to Lane Construction is recommended.
