I am requesting $500 -or more if possible -from the City of
Bangor to help support our region in an opportunity that rarely
presents itself, i realize this request is unusual and my
position within the City of Bangor can complicate the situation.
However, after a lot of thought I truly believe this is more then
a junket and affords us an opportunity to expand our potential
markets sooner rather than later. Because of the short planning
horizon and paperwork necessary to join the delegation, I would
appreciate an answer to my request by September 30, 1999.

Ed Barrett, City Manager
City of Bangor

Dear Ed
This is a difficult letter to write because as businessmen
we assume that our Companies will absorb the financial Commitment
necessary to support the organizations to which we belong.
However, a unique opportunity has been presented to mer and Bangor
Hydro, and while supporting my participation, SHE cannot bear all
the financial responsibility of this proposal.
Let me get right to the point. The MOCED (Mike Aube
directly) has put together a follow-up mission to Chile and
Argentina. The purpose of the trip is to encourage Chile to form
e formal relationship with Maine, and hopefully the Greater
Bangor Region as we work to expand our possible export markets.
In Argentina, there is to be a formalexchange of documents
eating a relationship between their Chamber and ours
e-ttureging expicrat oft of possible bu opportunities.
Additionally, the Argentineans have already purchased more then
$1,000,000 in Maine made manufactured homes and want to expand on
the existing relationship.
I have been invited to represent the Greater Bangor Region,
as well as the City of Bangor, on this trip from October 22, 1994
through October 29, 1994. The cost will be approximately $5,000
and besides my personal commitment and that of my employer, I see
seeking assistance from organizations directly and/or indirectly
with the opportunity to benefit from this trip.
