This is the annual update of the maximum levels of assistance allowed under
current General Assistance law. The changes are based upon the latest
Thrifty Food Plan and NW Fair Market Rents which were released late in

assistance from the Bangor
Welfare Department is that the applicants) have a
need under the Standard of Neal Deficit. Such deter-
mination stall be rade by use of an indigency formula.
The aggregate mexnavn level of assistance shall be
1108 of the applicable section 8 Existing Housing Fair
Market Rents as established by the United States De-
lartnent of Housing and Urban Eeveloprent, applying
the 0 hahocon level for 1 person, the 1 bedragn level
for 2 persons, the -2 bebtxan level for 3 persons, the
3 beCbovn level for 4 persons, the 4 balraan level for
5 parsons. For each additional person, the aggregate
mvxrmnn level shall increase by $75.
Eligibility antler all other erergency provisions shall
be determined by these regulations arcl the case record
shall specify the section order which assistance is
provided.
The total amount paid/allowed for housing uses
(rent/sortgage, fuel and utilities) will be the enact

Applicants requesting assistance for housing That contains
bedroom than are necessary for the number of
household sabers will be provided assistance according to
the mixinomi level for the number of bedrema actually
needed.
Payments for rental assistance on behalf of an otherwise
eligible individual will not be made to a Parent.

assistance andss necessary to provide the relative with
basic necassities.
Miscellanarvs malical, dental and eye services may be
provided on an amrgency basis. Except in
hmique situations approved by the Director, the Caseworker
will not approve dental expenses other than R»th
extractions.
