COUNCILOR 1 06-328 ORDINANCE Amending Article II,Section 291-28 of the Code of STONE Ordinance to Add a Portion of Howard Street to Schedule XVI- One-Way Streets IACTION Motion Made and Seconded for Passage Motion Made and Seconded to Amend by Adding a Sunset Date of 6/30/07 I Passed Motion Made and Seconded for Passage as Amended Several Howard Street residents spoke in support of this proposal Including Judy Jellison,Richard McGuck,Ken Schmidt,Bill Riley, I Gary Bolduc,Bill Cimbollek &Calvin Murphy. Larry Willey urged the Council to defeat this proposal because he felt that the residents of Fruit,Birch&Maple would be adversely affected by this change.Mr. Willey praised the traffic study,and said that he felt this was too harsh a remedy and suggested that I a traffic island and raised crosswalk be tried first. Chris Largay questioned whether making this section one-way would I actually increase traffic speed and suggested a center turn lane. Colleen Carter questioned when Howard Street was designated as a connector street and what effect the designation has. i Jim Ring stated that the MDOT made the designation and it carries the potential for funding.
