Adjourned at 9:45 p.m.
PUBLIC COMMENTS: Mr. Galen Cole of the Cole Transportation Museum
Discussed a student project that he has been involved with which is intended to help children
understand that freedom is not free. He stated that 10,000 students have
promised to inverview veterans and their families to document their sacrifices.
I Mr. Cole presented the Councilors with a book, Quiet Courage, by Don Coleson,
which documents veterans'stories back to World War II.
I Ms. Lucy Quimby, 1230Kenduskeag Avenue and President of the Bangor Land Trust,
showed maps of a new 80-acre land acquisition and explained that the trails will be worked on
(this summer.In addition, maps depicting the trails will be available soon.
I Ron Green, representing Bangor professional Firefighters Local 772, expressed his
frustration that the firefighters have been without a contract for 15 months, and urged the
Council to settle this issue. Council Chair Greene responded that the Council expects
I to vote on a contract in early July.
