HomeMy WebLinkAbout1985-05-31 Finance Committee MinutesFinance Committee May 31, 1985 at 4:00 p.m. Minutes Present: Councilor Jim Cox, Chairman Councilor John Gass Councilor Arthur Tilley John Flynn, City Manager Bob Miller, City Solicitor Ted Jellison, Finance Director Dave Pellegrino, Purchasing Agent 1. Auditing Services. The Committee agreed to interview the firms of Brantner and Thibodeav and of Brooks and Carter regarding their proposals for auditing services on Tuesday, June 4th at 0:00 a.m, and 0:30 a.m. 2. York Street Property. The City Manager asked for clarification from the Committee as to their action on the dispositiono£ property on York Street which was considered at their last meeting. At that previous meeting, Councilor McCarthy had suggested the Committee view the property in question. Councilors Cox and Gass asked that the item be placed on their next meeting's agenda. 3. MMA Defense Fund. The Committee approved $300 to be placed in this fund. The City Solicitor detailed the purpose of the fund _'which is to pay expenses incurred by the Maine Municipal Association in prosecuting and defending pending litigation involving municipal liability for retirement benefits for temporary and seasonal employees. - 4. Bids: a. Vac -All Parts. The Committee recommended award to C.B. Kenworth, Inc., the low bidder, at $3,610.05. b. Construction of Vestibule Building and Walkway. The Comm ttee recommended award of the contract for construction of this building and walkway at the City Nursing Facility to Larry M. Noyes and Sons, Inc., the low bidder, at $8,900.00.----- C. Demolition of BUilding at 164 Warren Street. The Committee recommended approval of a and of contract to Hughes Brothers, - Inc., the low bidder, at $4,400.00. d. Street Light Head:. The Committee approved purchase Of 100 street light heads from Graybar Electric Company, the low bidder, at $34.45/ea. a. Estimated Annual Re uiremenY o£ Incontinent Pads. The Committee r ommertded. purchase from Eastern Hospital Supply Co., the lowcresoonsive bidder. f. Estimated AMual Requirementa o£ Fuel and Diesel Oil." The Committed recomNended award Of the annual contract for No. 5 Fuel Oil, Diesel Fuel and Kerosene to Irving Oil Corp., the low responsive bidder. .And further recommended award of the annual contract for No. 6 Fuel Oil toC. H. Sprague and Sons, Inc., the low bidder, at $.6919/gallon. g. Waste Wood/Dark Chips. The Committee recommended purchase of thewood/bark chips from Parkway Transport, the only bidder, at $2.95/cu. yd. h. playground Equipment.
