Cruise Boat Neaotations The Finance Committee met with City staff and Frank Foss to discuss negotiations of a contract for the Mt. Katandin cruise boat to operate out of Bangor. The proposed contract will require Mr. Foss to pay the City $1,500 per season (Hay 15 to October 307 and he will be required to carry public liability and property damage insurance of at least $300,000. The one year contract must be approved by the full City Council at their meeting of March 25th. The Committee also recommended the purchase of dock extensions at a. cost of $11,086 which will be purchased with monies re- maining from the Coastal Zone Management Grant which the City received for waterfront redevelopment. These two 30' foot long extensions will be used to accommodate the smaller recreational s boats using the municipal dock as well as provide room for the docking of the Mt. Katandin. Councilor McCarthy questioned a paragraph within the contract relative to the City "agreeing to negotiate a five-year minimum contract". Be expressed concern: that the wording of the contract be taken asa five-year commitment to Mr. Fess and that the City doesn't know what docking arrangements will be available next year. After discussion, Mr Foss indicated that the contract would mean only that the city would negotiate for a future lease and that it would not guarantee a commitment.. The Committee adjourned for approximately 20 minutes while members of the staff and Mr. Foss finalized the wording for. the contract. The Committee recommended approval of the contract as attached. The Committee also voted to go into executive session to discuss a legal matter with the City Solicitor. Adjourned at approximately 5:45 p.m 1
