HomeMy WebLinkAbout1984-10-31 Airport Committee MinutesAIRPORT COMMITTEE MEETING OCTOBER 31, 1984 A meeting of the Bangor City Council Airport Committee was held on Wednesday, October 31, 1984 at 10 A.M. at the Airport Manager's office. Present were. Marshall Frankel, Chairman Edgar Brown Harold Wheeler Jahn Flynn John Frawley Theodore Jellison David Pellegrino Peter D`Errico Wayne Kitchen REA Item #1 Airmark Marketing Contract. Me Airport Manager explained to the Committee that this contract expires at the end of the year and has an option to renew. Mr. Ziegelaar is requesting a 3.5% increase for the 1985 contract, if approved. The Committee was most complimentary of Mr. Ziegelaar's performance for the Airport Department. After some discussion, the Committee unanimously agreed to approve this contract for a two-year period with a 3.5% increase. Thio contract will be placed on the City Council agenda in November. Item #2 Profit 6 Ines Statement for September, 1984. The Committee reviewed the ',P 6 I statement for the first quarter of fiscal year '85 which showed an accrued net profit of $426,898.40.. This was crested by a_16% increase in air traffic and a 247. increase in revenue over the comparable period in fiscal year 184. Item #3 FAA Flight Service Start= Eneineerin¢ Contract.. The Airport Manager briefed the Committee on the background of the new animated Flight Service Station that was selected recently for Bangor, Maineand of the positive economic impact to the greeter Bangor area. It is estimated there will be approximately 58 jobs at the FPS with an average income of $32,000. Mr. D'Errico told the Committee that it was imperative (Minutes continued) that engineering and site development work be done as soon as. possible in order to meet FAA's schedule of October 1, 1986. The engineering firm recommended to do .the engineering and design work is Ames Engineering, who was selected to provide assistance in preparing the city's proposal for a nominal fixed fee. This offer to provide these services was offered to other firma and Ames Engineering was the only firm to respond. Therefore, it was recommended to the Committee that the city enter into a contractual with Ames Engineering for these engineering services and for the contract not to exceed $50,000. Item b4 Construction Defects, Terminal Buildings. Me Committee voted to go into executive session to discuss a matter which will be made public at a later time. Meeting adjourned at 11:15 A.M.
