HomeMy WebLinkAbout1993-09-21 Airport Committee MinutesAIRPORT COMMITTEE SEEPING MINUTES MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 21, 1993 - ] AM AIRPORT MANAGER'S CONFERENCE ROOM Present: William Shubert, Chairperson William Cohen, Member Richard Stone, Member Bob Ziegelaar, Airport Director David Pellegrino, Purchasing Agent Chairman Shubert opened the meeting at 7:05 M. 1. x-ray unit purchase. Bob Ziegelaar explained the merits of purchasing the unit owned by United Airlines at $18,000, versus purchasing a new unit at $50,000 plus, as budgeted. The Committee voted unanimously to accept the recommendation. 2. Runway rubber removal. The Committee voted unanimously to accept a cost of $10,000 for a contract to removerubber deposits from the runway. The Airport Director explained this price has remained constant for several years and 50} is rebilled to the ANG. 3. De-icing truck part. The Committee voted to authorize an outlay of approximately $3600 to replace a heating element in the primary aircraft de-icing vehicle. 4. Sale of ramp equipment. Bob Ziegelaar recommended acceptance of an offer from Maine Central Railroad to purchase an aircraft towing vehicle for $8,000. The unit dates back to 1950, and no other local buyer would easily be found. MCRA would use the unit in its switching yard. The Committee approved the recommendation. Minutes continued s. Traffic Warden. Mr. Ziegelaar explained that the part-time security agent/ traffic warden has helped significantly boosting parking revenues and has contributed to a much improved traffic flow in front of the terminal. Whereas the Airport Director envisions a continued forty -hour position, he requested that he be authorized to provide full-time benefits for this position. The Committee approved the request. 6. General Update. The Airport Director briefed the Committee regarding various aspects of winter traffic and future expectations. The meeting was adjourned at 7:45 AM.
