HomeMy WebLinkAbout1984-09-05 Airport Committee Minutesr� a A1RPoar COMMITTEE MMTNG SEPTEMBER 5, 1984 A meeting of the Bangor City Council Airport Committee was held on Wednesday, September 5, 1984 at 11 Ade. at the Airport Manager'$ office. Present were. Marshall Frankel, Chairman Harold Wheeler John Flynn Edward McKeon Peter D'Errico Absent: Edgar Brown Item 81 Economic Development Matters. Eco amic Development Director, Edward McKeon informed the Committee that Don Bicknell of Nor'Eaet Aircraft Refinishing Company is requesting permission to lease Bldg. 600, a building formerly used by the Air Defense Command, for an aircraft refinishing business. Such work would include stripping and painting small commercial aircraft. Ht. McKeon stated that this building has been vacant for two years: this building includes two hangars connected by office space with an area of approximately 21,800 safe. He ales informed the Committee that the roof needs repair as well as the heating system and that the city will be asked to commit funds presently estimated at $15,000 from its Community Development fund for these repairs. Mr. McKeon said these repairs would have to be made anyway. He further stated that the City Council would be asked to change the zone where this building is located from civic and institutional (anise which the Air Deimos Command operated) to a general airport zone In order to accomodate the aircraft refinishing business. The Cmmittee voted to approve a three-year lease with a two year option with Nor'East Aircraft Refinishing Company. (Minute. continued) Item 62 B 6 K Petrolemh Lease. At the previous Airport Committee meeting held on August 23rd, the Committee voted for the city to enter into a one- year lease agreement with B 6 K Petroleum which would terminate at the same time as the Ceorge Fidler lease. Airport Manager, Peter B'Errico, informed the Committee that after reviewing the Fidler lease, the staff found that the lease does not expire for 18 months. After some discussion, the Committee voted to extend the B d K lease for an additional 6 months in order for both leases to terminate on the same date. This was approved with the condition that this department notify the Clendenning Oil Conpany of its decision. She entire parcel would than be advertised for proposals. Meeting adjourned at 11:45 A.M.
