City Council Airport Committee was held on Thursday, May 5, 1988 at 2:45 P.H. at the City Council Chambers. Present were: Mary Sullivan, Chairman Jane Earl Arthur Tilley Edward McKeon Peter D'Errica Edward Barrett ItemX41 - General Electric Lease Provisions. Economic Development Director, Edward McKeon presented the revised figures for the General Electric lease which covered their three Griffin Road buildings, relative to the G.E. expansion project. He explained that the lease on those properties would increase by $36,383.50 per month to cover the costs of financing the expansions, and that a review of these figures would be made upon final disbursement of construction funds and re -adjusted to final figures by August let. He explained that of the $36,383.50 per month, $5,715.33 per month is returned to the city monthly in payment of its contribution of reserve funds into the project and the remainder is, passed through the city to Target Corporation to pay the financing of the portion obligated to Target. Councilor Tilley made a motion to apprpve these figures and lease change and it was seconded by Councilor Saxl; the vote was unanimous.' The re -adjusted figures on Augusto 1st will not require further Committee approval. Io (Minutes continued) 2 Item i{2 - Anzac Lease Amendment. Mr. McKeon presented a lease amendment re -defining the metes and .bounds of the lot leased and occupied by the Anzac electronics assembly/manufacturing plant. 4his lot was expanded four years ago but the survey of the city - military line has just been completed recently by the military and accepted by the city. This lease change reflects a re -defining a of the description to this property. Councilor Tilley made a motion to approve this lease amendment and it is seconded by Councilor Saxl; the vote is unanimous. ' 1 Item $3 - Use Requests/Airport Paved Area Mr. McKeon briefed the Committee on a request from A firm toutilize approximately 4 acres of paved areae on the airport for a truck training school. This firm would also like to build or rent a small office containing 1,000 to 1,500 sgft. adjacent to or near a training area but is requesting some type of a guarantee for at least a year's use of the land. He stated that the State of Maine now nabs one portion of the airport paved area off Union Street for truck driver license testing but with no assurance of continuance should the land be needed for other purposes. Available paved areas are within industrial or Free Trade zone development areas. After discussion on such private uses and 'the difficulty of dislocating such wise on short notice when land is needed for its intended purpose, the Committee voted not to approve such uses, and asked that every effort be made to accommodate and encourage these uses on other non -airport land. Meeting adjourned at 3:15 P.M.
