The Airport Manager explained to the Committee members that this was a lease renewal covering landing fees, tent, and terminal user fees in the terminal building. This lease was negotiated with Bar Harbor Airlines for a 26 -month period in order for the date to coincide with other airline leasee. The Committee voted unanimously to approve this lease renewal. Item 92 Bangor International Airlines Lease Renewal. Me Airport Manager prefaced his remarks by informing the Committee that Nie agenda item was for discussion and planning purposes only and that no action would be taken on this matter at this meeting. He then briefed the Committee members on the background of Bangor International Airlines and explained that their lease for office and counter apace in the terminal had expired and that they are requesting renewal of the lease. The Airport Manager explained there is a shortage of existing airline space and that United Airlines representatives have been In Bangor recently and are interested in operating westbound flights out of Bangor ,to Chicago. In order for United to offer service out of Bangor, they would need counter apace on an outside well in order that baggage is handled expeditiously. The Committee then discussed whether a policy decision should be made regarding the beet use of apace (Minutes continued) and what 1s in the best interest of the public. The question raised by the Staff is whether Bangor International Airlines is actually operating a scheduled service at the airport. I£ determined they are not operating a scheduled service, it was felt the airline should not be permitted to lease the counter as they are not meeting airport standards. The Committee then toured the terminal area where the office and anter Space is used by the airlines and other alternatives were diecussed after viewing the area. Before making a decision on this lease renewal, the Committee will meet with the owner of Bangor International Airlines at their next scheduled meeting. Meeting adjourned at 11:05 A.M.
