AIRPORT COMMITTEE MEETING
JANUARY 25, 1985
A meeting of the Ungar City Council Airport Committee was held
on Friday, January 25, 1985 at 8:80 A.M. at the Airport Manager's office.
Present were.

Item FS - Custodial Contract. Mr. Pellegrino, the City of Bangor's Purchasing
and Contracting Officer, reviewed the background of the recently expired contract
with Nationwide Maintenance, Inc. for custodial services at the airport. This
custodial service was put out to bid and 5 bid proposals were received. These
Proposals were reviewed by the Contracting Officer and Airport Department staff
and it was recommended that the proposal presented by Penobscot Cleaning be
approved. The estimated coat of this contract is $102,000 and is for a one-year
period with option renewals. This contract has been approved by the Finance
Committee and forwarded to the Airport Committee for their approval.
Councilor Frankel moved that the Committee approve this contract and it was
seconded by Councilor Brown. (Committee member James Cox abstained from
voting on this matter)
Item f2 - New England Telephone Company Lease. The Committee approved a lease
with New England Telephone. Company for a small Parcel of land at the corner
of Griffin Road and Union Street for the construction of a small utility
building which is to house the subscriber loop carrier system.

Item #3 - Noise Exemption. The Airport Manager briefed the Committee oa the
current status of the city's application for exemption to the federal noise
legislation which purpose is to allow non -complying air -carriers who meet the
guidelines for a federal exemption to land at Bangor International Airport for
technical services. The Airport Manager reviewed with the Committee all of the
filings, correspondence and work done by the Washington legal counsel of Barrett,
Smith, Schapiro, Simon & Armstrong and explained the detailed and complicated
nature of this exemption request. He also advised the Committee that legal
expenses would exceed the estimated amount anticipated when legal counsel Vag
engaged due to the complexities of the problem. The Airport Manager also
advised the Committee of the efforts as well as the cooperation of the members
of the Congressional Delegation and their staff who have been working jointly
With the Airport Department on this problem. He further stated that he and
Mr. ESegelaar were in Washington, D.C. on January 10th to meet with the
Congressional Delegation, Legal Counsel and the r".
