A meeting of the Bangor City Council Airport Committee was held on
Tuesday, October 8, 1985 at 9:15 A.M. at the City Manager's office.
Present were.
Edgar Brown, Chairman
James Cox
Marshall Frankel
Joan Flynn
Peter D'Errico
Item F1 - Airport Security. The Airport Manager briefed the Committee
on the history of the security at the airport and explained that for the
past li years, there has been no security personnel at the airport. He
explained that the airport has been experiencing minor theft and an increasing
problem with vandalism It is now the opinion that there should be a uniformed
officer on duty and Mr. D'Eirico is recommending to the Committee that a
policeman be on duty from 10 P.M. until 6 A.M.,. ) days per week and that his
duties would Include checking the two terminal buildings. runway and taxiway
areas, etc. The question of securing a private security company versus the
Bangor Police Department was discussed and the staff felt very strongly that
for the difference in cost, that it would be more advantageous to have the
Bangor Police Department with its depth of services at the airport.
The Airport Committee unanimously approved this request.
Item BZ - Bar Harbor Airlines Lease Renewal on Hangar #663 The Airport Manager
explained to the Committee thatthis lease has not been executed because the
lease calla for the tetmnt to carry fire and extended coverage insurance on this
hangar which is very costly. The Airport Manager recommended that this hangar
be insured under the Airport's blanket insurance coverage and the premium coats
be pro -rated into the rental agreement, The Airport Manager made it clear that

the insurance coverage was only for fire and extended coverage and that it
does not cover leasehold Improvements, company equipment or liability insurance.
The Committee unanimously approved the renewal of this lease with any escalation
in the premiums to be passed on to the tenant.
