Paul Nicklas presentation on processes and practices Assistant City Solicitor Paul Nicklas, along with assistance from staffer Zeth, provided commissioners with overview of the processes and practices of City committees and commissions. Topics included Roberts Rules and the formal motion process, public access to meetings and information, and processes that happen inside and outside of meetings. 4. ARTober survey feedback Elissa gave an update on this. Eight surveys total had been returned. Some participants found ARTober to be helpful to the community, while others found that it had no impact at all. Requests for a stronger presence on social media, better distribution of maps/schedules, and wider inclusion of other entities. Mary commented that ARTobers first year in 2015 served purpose to highlight year-round art activity via a month of programming. Commission was awarded a grant from MAC that year to fund the project, which helped pay for brochures, multimedia advertising, banners, etc. Last year was not as robust, partly due to the fact that we were not as successful in finding grants or sponsorship. Generous sponsorship from Beal College helped greatly, and was really the saving grace that helped make ARTober a reality in 2016. How to best support ARTober going forward? Is it a priority? Do we pursue this again, or do we pursue a third-party organization/event planner to help? Owen suggested that we search out multiple partners to help. Liam voiced support of event, but admitted it will require focus from CCD, perhaps subcommittee, perhaps scale back number of events and focus on some key events. Mary suggested we move forward with a work session that deals with these issues at-large and determines how best to move forward. We will schedule something in March. 5. Committee Updates Marketing website continues to be in development, approaching time very soon where that can be launched Advocacy eagerly anticipating data from the AEP5 study, which wont be ready for another few months. Committee will be focused on that data when made available, find the storyline, and how best to present it to the City and community. Funding looking into applying for $10k MAC grant to create cultural plan the idea is to hire a consultant to create the plan, and phase II is a $75k grant to implement plan.
