Item No. _ 96-78
Date January S. 1996
Item/Subject Amending Chapter VII of the Law$ and Ordinances of
the City of Bangor -- Paid Sexual Contact
Responsible Department, Legal
Concern has been expressed recently that language in Section 2.4 of
the City's 'paid sexual contact" ordinance may make private
landlords in Bangor liable for civil fines based on tenants'
conduct of which the landlord has no knowledge. A secondary
concern is that as other communities adapt similar ordinances,
landlords in other towns will become similarly exposed.
The Municipal Operations Committee met on December 5, 1995 and
voted to forward this amendment to the full Council for
consideration.
