Item No. 96-409
Date October 16, 1996
Item/Subject: Amending Parking Ordinance (Chapter III, Article 6
of the Laws 6 Ordinances of the .City of Bangor) -- Emergency
Vehicle Exception
Responsible Department: Legal
This ordinance amendment has been prepared by the Legal
Department. At Cu6ED Committee discussion on 10/9/96, it was noted
that the City's Parking Ordinance does not contain an exception for
service and delivery vehicles. On review, it also appears that the
Parking Ordinance does not contain an exception for emergency
vehicles.. Rather than require our police. officers to write
themselves parking tickets whenever emergency situations rgulre-
them to violate posted parking regulations, this amendment would
Provide a limited exception for police, fire, ambulance and rescue
vehicles. The issue of service and delivery vehicles is not
addressed in this amendment.
