Town of Veazie From: Philip O. McCarthy, President, MMA and Town Manager, Kittery Date: June 14, 1996 Re: APPOINTMENTS TO MMA'5 tEOI51ATI/2 POLICY COMMITTEE Nominations have been made and ballots have been mailed to MMA's member municipal'Nes for the 1996-1998 term of the Legislative Policy Committee (LPC). Because of Bongoes proportionate size within Senate District 9, it is allowed to appoint two representatives to the LPC. The appointees must be currently serving, elected or appointed municipal officials. In order to allow the Town of Veazie, also within Senate Distract 9, representation on the LPC, Veazie will appoint an alternate member for the District. Veazie's representative may attend any of the LPC meetings and will have voting power when one of Bangor's representatives does not attend. An important consideration in deciding whom to appoint is a commitment to attend the montly meetings and to participate in other advocacy acivitles as needed. As you know, the LPC is responsible for formulating MMA's legislative sUategy, and the continued involvement of each of Bangor and Veazie is a critical component of the process. Please natty us in wrating as soon as possible whom you wish to appoint, providing us with the appointees' full names, positions, mailing addresses, and telephone and FAX numbers. If you have any questions, please call MMA's State and Federal Relations staff at 1-80D 52-8788 or 8238428.
