These funds are received annually and must be used for the maintenance or improvement of public roads. The attached Resolve will appropriate these funds for our annual overlay and reconstruction program. Please also note that effective with the March and dune payments, we will receive additional $2,596.5D/quarter i e cognition of those highways within intens eof more thantwo travel lanes. This addition resulted from recent legislation supported by the City of o Danger in cooperation with a number of otherservice center cities. Staff involved in the effort to pass this legislation included Erik Stumpfel, Sim Ring, Arthur Stockus, and myself. As ae sult, we will receive approximately $10,000 more on an annual basis. In the past Legislative session, the Local Road Assistance Program law was revised (public law 608) and the effective date of the revision is January 1, 1999. This revised law addresses municipalities that have maintenance responsibilities of public roads with more than two travel lanes. Municipalities that do not have maintenance responsibilities of public roads with more than two travel lanes will not be affected. The Local Road Assistance Program Funds will be distributed to each municipality: 1. The allocation for the period July 1, 1996 to December 31, 1996 is based on the avarasne miles maintained by the municipality multiplied by an amount not lees than $1,200.00. Average miles maintained means the Pum of the number of miles of public road maintained by the municipality in the summer plus the number of miles of public road maintained by the municipality in the winter, divided by two. 2. The allocation for the the period January 1, 1997 to June 30, 1997 is based On thea age 1 - ,tiles maintained by the municipality multiplied by an amount not less than $600.00.
