Date: 6-10-96 Item No 16-261
Item/Subject: Ordinance, Amending Chapter I, Article 3, Section
6 of the Laws and Ordinances of the City of
Bangor --Special Cmmittess
Responsible Department: City Council
Commentary:
The recently completed review of the status of various City
Council Committees indicated that a clear procedure would be
useful outlining how to establish temporary, ad hoc, or
specialized Committees of the City Council. Councilor Baldacci
has requested that such a procedure be prepared and established,
by Ordinance, in Chapter I of the City's Code.
The attached Ordinance amendment would create a new subsection
6.7 in Chapter I, Article 3 dealing with Special Committees.
Such committees would be established by Council Order which would
specify committee purpose, composition, manner of appointment,
and term of existence. The memberships of such committees may be
drawn from the Council, staff, and/or the community at large.
