Those discussions have been complicated by the need to address environmental liability issues potentially arising out of use of the parcel by Maine Central Railroad as a railroad switching yard and maintenance facility for more than 100 years. An acceptable agreement has been negotiated with the railroad, which contains provisions addressing environmental liability issues.
