5.4.5.2 and Section 5.4.5.5
Responsible DepartmentsCommunity and Economic Development -Code Enforcement Division
Them proposed amendments were constructed in consultation with Cynthia Cavanaugh, President of lbe
Downtown Business Association.
The goal of Mesa changes is to allow a wider range of signage options for Downmwn store and business
Many of the ideas wh lch led to there revisions reflect the pre -World War II era. The scale of signs in the
proposal changes are appropriate to Me building dimensions and are, for the most parts pedestrian
armored.

Chapter VI. Article 3. Section 5.1.1, Section'
5.4.5.1, Section 5.4.5.2, and Section 5.4.5.5-
Several members of the BCC indicated that they might be interested in
amending the Signs Ordinance, Chapter VI, Article 3, Section 5.4.5.2, to
permit horizontal and projecting signs on the first floor to have a maximum
height of 3 feet, to permit horizontal and projecting signs above the first floor
to have a maximum height of 2.5 feet, and to permit projecting signs to
protrude up toy feet from a building.
54.5.2 (a) The maximum begin of horizontal wall signs or projecting signs shall
be three (3) feet on the first floor and two moll a half (2.5) feet on (or
above) the second Floor.
(b) The maximum projecting distance of a projecting sign shall be five (5)
fee[.
2) Section 5.4.5.5 (b) should be amended to include "business name and
address" as part of the list of permitted items to be placed on a projecting
sign. The term logo" probably covers this, but this addition will make this
section clearer.
5.4.5.5 (b) Projecting signs shall be permitted only for the purpose of displaying
symbols, logos, business names and addresses or fime and temperature.
Stub signs shellprotrude noprotmde no mored five (5) feet from the: building
