Item/Subject Amending Sign ONinmuse-Include"muscums,cultmsl andeducational facilities"
within the Intmcommunity Sign Category; placa the cost Of Intmmmmunity Signs on
applicants, and eliminate the need for a Council Order to erect Intmmmmunity
Signs.
Responsible Department Code Enforcement
Commentary:
This proposed amendment will accomplish three goals:
First. It will allow museums and cultural Facilities and educational facilities to have ol[pmmise
directional signs. Currently, Section 6.3.4 allows hospitals, public transportation facilities, public
racreations] facilities (including benches, perks, sport arenas, scenic area and historical sites). municipal
subdivisions, and govcmmaaal buildings and agencies to have small off -premien signs armed by the
City In the public right of way;
Second, it will require the applicant to pay for the cost oferecting Intmcommunity Signs. Currently,
Section6.3.4 requires the City to erect such signs but does not require the applica l to pay for the sign;
Third, itwill allow the Cade Enforcement0flice to permit the erection of Intrmommunity Signs upon
a slowing by the applicant that such a sign meets the requirements of Section 6.3.4 without having to
obtain a Council Older. Currently, Section 6.3.4 provides standards for Inmcommull Signs but
requires a Council Odcr to error such signs
