The City's Ethics ordinance presently provides that the Board shall make annual recommendations for revisions to the Code. This amendment clarifies the Board's responsibilities to also advise the Council if it is not recommending changes. Committee Action Committee: Action: Government Operations Committee Meeting Date: October 2, 2017 Staff Comments & Approvals (', Pn LMLJ City Manager Introduced for: First Reading and Referral For: �iw - City Solicitor Against: Finance Director CITY COUNCIL ORDINANCE Date: October 11, 2017 Assigned to Councilor: Nichols 17-367 10/11/2017 ORDINANCE, Amending Chapter 33, Code of Ethics, Section 33-20 Powers and Duties WHEREAS, the City's Ethics ordinance provides that the Board of Ethics shall make annual recommendations to the Council of necessary changes to the Code; and WHEREAS, at times, the Board may have no recommendations and should advise the Council accordingly. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BANGOR AS FOLLOWS, THAT Chapter 33-20 of the Code of the City of Bangor be amended as follows: § 33-20 Powers and Duties The Board shall make findings of fact and render opinions to the City Council concerning application of the provisions of this code to any particular situation. In the performance of its duties, the Board shall limit its review and fact finding to those issues referred to it by the City Council. The Board shall also make annual recommendations for necessary revisions to this code and shall perform such other duties as may be prescribed from time to time by the City Council. In the event the Board has no recommendations for revisions to this code, the Chair of the Board shall issue a report to the City Council advising them of such.
