Thin Ordinance consists of three amendments to the Sign Ordinance.
One allows small free-standing signs in the Downtown Development
District; the second allows small free-standing signs in the
Neighborhood Service District; and the third allows for a business
directory sign for small groups of businesses not located on major
streets.

of Bangor be emended as follows:

(a) A roof sign my be displayed in place of a
wall sign and shall be subject to the same
area limitation. The maximum allowable height
for a roof sign shall be six (6) feet from the
point of the roof to which the ,sign is
attached to the top of the sign.
(b) A free standing sign shall be setback from
property lines as indicated below:

STATEMENTS OF FACT: The purpose of the proposed amendment to Article 3,
Section 3 is to allow businesses in the Downtown Development District to
advertise the names and locations of their businesses by use of small
free-standing pedestrian -oriented signs.
The proposed amendment to Article 5.9:1 would allow amall free standing
signs in the Neighborhood Service District.
The addition of a -Business quarter Directory Sign- in Article 6.1 would
give small groups of businesses located off well -traveled streets the
opportunity to erect joint free-standing, off -premise signs to advertise
their names and locations.
