Councilor Blanchette acknowledged they were in disrepair but there was no money to fix at this time. She also indicated that if the city is going to operate a marina, it needs shower facilities but eventually the building will need to come down. Skip Black mentioned that blocking the sidewalk off near the waterfront stage was a safety issue for people having to cross the road twice to get from Hollywood Casino to the concert area. I am deeply sorry and embarrassed for this rookie mistake and am committed to doing everything I can to make this right. Although, I have already personally called his office – I would like to again take this opportunity to apologize publicly to Governor LePage. While I disagree with almost all of the Governor’s positions, my comments were inappropriate and regrettable and have no place in the deliberations of this body. I would like to apologize to my fellow councilors. I regret that my comments have been a distraction from the serious challenges we face as a group and I am more committed than ever to rolling up my sleeves and working beside you in a more collaborative approach. I would like to apologize to the people of Bangor who have placed their trust and confidence in me to represent them on our City Council. I realize that I have been given an incredible opportunity at a young age to influence public policy and I want to continue to work hard every single day on behalf of all of our citizens. I believe that public service is about being honest, even when you make a mistake. This has certainly been a learning experience, but one that I believe will make me a better councilor and a better person. Again, I do sincerely apologize and I believe we can move forward for the better, work together, and be3 effective now in addressing the challenges that Bangor and the great State of Maine face.
