Paul Pasquine Associate Commission Members Present Charles Boothby Jeff Barnes City Staff Present: Jeremy Martin Historical Consultant Present: Robert Kelly Public Hearings 1. 6 Harlow Street – Erv’s Barber Shop To consider a request for Certificate of Appropriateness and Design Review approval to install a barber pole. Action Taken: Certificate of Appropriateness and Design Review granted / denied by a vote of 5 to 0. 2. 40 Harlow Street – University of Maine Museum of Art To consider a request for Certificate of Appropriateness and Design Review approval to install a wall sign. th Action Taken: Tabled until September 9 HPC meeting. 3. 137 Main Street – Mark Beal To consider a request for Certificate of Appropriateness and Design Review approval to install an awning sign. Action Taken: Certificate of Appropriateness and Design Review approval granted / denied by a vote of 5 to 0. 4. 300 Union Street – Buzzell’s Inc. To consider a request for a Certificate of Appropriateness to install a wooden fence around the outdoor play area for preschool/daycare facility (to match existing fence previously approved by the Commission in September 2002). Action Taken: Certificate of Appropriateness granted / denied by a vote of 5 to 0. 5. 20 Hayward Street – Joseph T. and Katherine Walsh To consider a request for a Certificate of Appropriateness for exterior alterations which include: remove and replace shingles, remove gutters and replace, replace fascia boards. Action Taken: Certificate of Appropriateness granted / denied by a vote of 5 to 0 with the condition that molding similar to the existing gutters be used. 6. 115 Main Street – Ames A/E To consider a request for Certificate of Appropriateness and Design Review approval to replace the awning fabric on an existing retractable awning. Action Taken: Certificate of Appropriateness and Design Review approval granted / denied by a vote of 5 to 0. The next scheduled meeting is Thursday, September 9, 2004 at 7:00 p.m. in the third floor Council Chambers.
