PUBLIC HEARINGS
1. 35 Main Street – Déjà vu Salon
To consider a request for Certificate of Appropriateness and Design Review approval to
install a banner sign.
Action Taken: Applicant indicated that she would like two different colored (black and
maroon) banners to be used at different times. Staff indicated that Déjà Vu is permitted
one banner sign and that the HPC could approve two different colored banners with the
condition that only one banner be used at a time. Certificate of Appropriateness and
Design Review approval granted by a vote of 5 to 0.
2. 126 Union Street – Inter-Faith Studies Institute
To consider a request for Certificate of Appropriateness approval to construct a circular
brick path set into the side yard; a labyrinth traditional to churches. The labyrinth will be
approximately 30 feet in diameter. The remaining earth will be used for a flower bed.
Action Taken: Certificate of Appropriateness approval granted by a vote of 5 to 0 with
the condition that the project start within 6 months and be completed within 2 years
3. 99 Franklin Street – Bangor Savings Bank
To consider a request for Design Review approval to rebuild deteriorated parking lot
retaining wall and fence.
Action Taken: Design Review approval granted by a vote of 5 to 0 with the condition
that the applicant work with city staff to replace at least two of the trees that will need to
be removed during the project and that the project commence within 6 months and be
completed within 2 years.
4. 84 Harlow Street – House Revivers
To consider a request for Certificate of Appropriateness and Design Review approval to
change the color of the new storefront.
Action Taken: Certificate of Appropriateness and Design Review approval granted by a
vote of 5 to 0.
