She also gave the details of the charitable contributions "made by Mr.Imus Elizabeth Whitehouse. 124 Main Street, felt that the statue of Paul Bunyan should not be trivialized. Councilman 97-372 GUIDELINE A The use of City of Bangor monuments or statues to advertise or otherwise call attention to an event or celebration to be held at Bass Park or elsewhere within the City of Bangor shall not be Permitted. 92-322 GUIDELINE (B) 1.0. The purpose of this guideline is to provide standards for City Staff to follow inresponding to requests to decorate or otherwise use City statues or eats to advertise or otherwise call attention to anevent or celebration to he held at Bass Park or elsewhere within the City of Bangor. 2.0. Geneiala+> >^t In general, the use of City statues or r monuments to publicize o call attention to an event or celebration Shall not be encouraged or allowed unless: 2.1. The event or celebration i - ial i nature and is designed solely for the benefitofa recognized charitable cause or the enjoyment of Bangor citizens as might be the case in a city-wide celebration such as the 4th of July; or 2.2. The use is associated with a n - ial event at Bass Park whichisdetermined to provide a significant benefit to the community through: a. the economic activity generated by the event; or b. the provision of entertainment opportunities to the residents of Bangor; o C. contributions anticipated to be generated by the event for local charitable causes. 3.1. The proposed use shall be such that no damage to the statue or monument will result, nor shall any permanent change be made; 3.2. Event sponsors shall be solely responsible for any costs associated with the use ncluding preparation, installation, and removal of any materials to be used. 3.3. Statements included on the materials to be used on the statue e limited to information directly related to the event and Shell avoid partisan political statements or the advocacy of a particular position in areas of public policy dispute or controversy. _ 3.9. Appeals from the decision of the Director of Parke and Recreation shall be to the Council Committee primarily charged with review and oversight of the Department of Parks and Recreation. The determination of this committee shall be final. The Director of Parks and Recreation shall periodically review these guidelines and, when necessary, recommend changes on revisions to the City council. 97-372 4.0. Pin .r 4.1.
