This committee is a subdivision of Bangor Westside Little League. The members are: Stephen (ting, Dale Thenault, David Mansfield, Ronald J. St. Pierre, Dennis Libbey, John Stable, and Joseph Ferris. The new baseball field was dedicated to Shawn T. Mansfield and all the other kids who never got to play the game. It opened in June of 1992 and it became an immediate sanction with over 150 games played at the field that first surmner. The following spring Burger High School played their regular season genes at the field and Bangor Legion Baseball also moved from Garland Street That left the Garland Street field open for the two junior highs and for the Coastal League in the summer. Mansfield Complex as it was called only on is now (mown as the Shawn T. Mansfield Baseball Stadium. We have basted State Championships for the high schools, Senior Little League, uW American Legion Also, the college NA Nmtheam Regional Championship was held in Bangor in 1995. Over 750 games have been played since 1992 bringing in teas from all over the state and more from as far away as Pennsylvania. The colt ofmrming the park is over $50,000 per year. The city provides $25,000 and the concession stand provides us with additional funds. All money raised through concession sales goes back her, maintenance and improvements. These two sources of income meet sough to maintain this professional class ballpark. The additional money for equipment and improvements has been provided Steve and Tabby. A first class field secmal to none in the nomheaat was given to the city whh no equipment tomaintainit. StevewasawareoftNs and informed us that hewouldbewillingto help for an mrspaified munber of years. He bas donated funds each year urd we have purchasedaver$100,000ofequipmentandmppfiessivathesummerof92tom 6n and improve this facility. The most meet improvement has been the estate style forcing in the from of the stadium. A brick walkway and flagpoles have been added to improve what used to be a dirt path into the ballpark. Flowers are planted each spring and hopefully shrubs will be added soon to finish the hammering. 9)-2)4 State and Tabby have given so much to this project and we feel it is time for us to establish away to raise the funds required to maintain the park and the equipment without relying on the Kings each year, We wmrc to make everyone interested in baseball and the kids to become part of the ballpark by purchasing fwd miser bricks to be placed in the entrance to the park. Our proposal is to sell these on a comiwing basis to provide perpetual care of the baseball facility. Theffiwhedsheetprovidestheinfoionrelatedtowgs placewmtofthe gift brick.
