of Bangor and Teamsters Local 340, Police Support
Staff at the Bangor Police Department

commentary: Labor negotiations with twelve (12) unionized Police
Support staff (dispatchers, clerical workers, parking control aides,
neintenance workers) have resulted in a tentative agreement between the
gotiating committees. The agreement was developed with the assistance
of and recommended to the parties by a neutral state mediator. The most
recent Support Staff contract expired On June 30, 1995:
Major points of significance include_ a three year contract from July 1,
1995 through June 30, 1990; movement to the graduated payment scale for
health insurance premiums: wage scale modifications of 0% year 1, 39
year 2 and3%3; a. revision w
to holiday pay for the swing shift
dispatcher, inclusion Of references to the Family Medical Leave Act and
americans with Disabilities Act and other m contract changes The
cost of funding the 1996-97 year is included in the approved Police
Department budget.
The Police Support Staff ratified the Tentative Agreement inavote held
n Deceit er 5, 1996 and o several occasions the City Council has had an
e
opportunity to review progress and receive nupdates in a cutive session.
The Agreement is now ready for finalCouncilaction, and it is presented
with the recommendation and support of the Management Negotiation
