of Bangor and Teamsters Local 340, Commanding
Officers at the Bangor Police Department

commentary: Labor negotiations with fourteen (14) unionized Commanding
,officerl(sergeants and lieutenants) have resulted in a tentative
agreement between the negotiating committees. The agreement was
developed with the assistance of and recommended to the parties by a
neutral state mediator. The most recent Commanding Officers contract
expired on June 30, 1995.
Major points of significance include: a three year Contract from July 1,
1995 through June 30, 1998; movement to the graduated payment Scale for
health insurance premiums; wage scale modifications of Ot year 1, 38
year 2 and 3% year 3; anna
i cre se in the private service detail rate;
inclusion of references totheFamily and Medical Leave Act and
Americans with Disabilities Act; slight revisions to the holiday article
and other minor
contract changes. The cost of funding the 1996-97 year
is included in the approved Police Department budget.
The Commanding Officers ratified the Tentative Agreement in a vote held
n December 5th and onseveral occasions the Council has had a
opportunity to review progress and 2 na
updates i executive session.
The Agreement i ready for final council action, and it is presented
with theommendation and support of the management negotiation
