PLANNING BOARD OF THE CITY OF BANGOR
MEETING OF JULY 5, 2000
MINUTES

Chairman Bostwick called the meeting to order at 7:08 p.m.
CONSENT AGENDA
As no one wished to remove any of the items for discussion, Chairman Bostwick asked for a
motion. Mr. Costlow moved to approve the Consent Agenda. Mr. Guerette seconded the motion.
The Board voted 4 to 0 in favor. The items approved were:
Item No. 1: Site Location of Development Modification and Site Development Plan Approval to
construct a 14,664 sq. ft. addition to the existing Equipment Storage Building located
on Maine Avenue in an Airport Development District. Bangor International Airport,
applicant.
Item No. 2: Site Location of Development Modification and Site Development Plan Approval to
construct a parking lot expansion located at 203 Maine Avenue in an Industry and
Service District. Bangor Savings Bank, applicant.
Item No. 3: Site Location of Development Modification and Site Development Plan Approval to
modify the previously approved plan to add 6 loading bays, 8,400 sq. ft. of
maneuvering area and to modify the previously approved detention pond located at
70 Bennett Street in an Urban Industry District. Galt Block Warehouse, Inc.,
applicant.
APPROVAL OF MINTUES
Item No. 4: Planning Board Approval of Minutes of June 20, 2000 Meeting.
The minutes of the June 20, 2000 meeting were unanimously approved as printed.
MISCELLANEOUS BUSINESS
Item No. 5: Planning Board Discussion of Comprehensive Plan Update.
Planning Officer Weber led a discussion on preparations for the July 18, 2000 Public Hearing
on the Comprehensive Plan 2000. She distributed copies of maps from the Plan and a narrative
summary to provide background on the project. The following maps were reviewed:
Generalized Existing Land Use
Primary Service Area (served by sewer and/or water, including service gaps)
Use Policy Areas
Land Use Concepts
Development Policy
Zoning Policy
These maps will be displayed and explained at the Public Hearing as part of the brief
presentation. Planning Board and Council members who were directly involved in the planning
process and the development of the latest version of Bangor’s Comprehensive Plan are encouraged
to share their ideas and comments in the Public Hearing.
The Board will take action on the Plan after the Public Hearing, and make a recommendation to
the City Council. The Council will hold another Public Hearing on the Plan on July 24, 2000; then
vote on adopting the Plan as the official planning document for the City.
Item No. 6: Planning Board Review of Correspondence and Other Communications from
the Planning Division Office.
Planning Officer Weber noted that the Planning Office had received copies of two 60-day
completion date extension requests: one for the site located at 403 Hogan Road (Darling’s); and,
the other for construction of an apartment building locate don Glenwood Drive.
There being no further items for discussion, the meeting was adjourned at 7:30 p.m.
