Title, Resolve
Ratifying the City Manager's Amendment of the Womens, Infant, and Children Grant (WIC) to Accept an
Additional $8,100.00
Summary
This resolve will ratify the City Manager's submission of an amendment to the WIC Allocation to accept an
additional $8,100 for FY17, which covers the period from October 1, 2016 through September 30, 2017. The
due date for submission of the WIC Allocation Amendment was July 27, 2017. If approved, this additional
$8,100 will be used for professional development for eight staff and outreach items. Professional
development and staff training is essential in providing up-to-date, evidence based Nutrition and
Breastfeeding information to WIC participants. Outreach items are used for teachable moments and to
promote and encourage behavioral changes. Outreach items also assist in reaching potential participants who
are unaware of WIC or unsure of how to access WIC. This item was reviewed and recommended for
approval at the July 31, 2017 Government Operations Committee.
