Commentary:
As a follow up to but years discussions of the flown of Burgett Mmmal Health Institute and the recent
meeting with the Commiswoner of Mental Health and Meatal Retardation, Councilor 601411001 has
suggested that the City establish a special committee to deal with mental health issues and to Pansiliate or
m least mordtor the pluming activities of the Department as they affect mental health services in am
community. At his nation, I have drafted the matched Council Order to estabfish such a committee.
The Municipal Operations Committee has reviewed the draft of the proposed committee someone. Asa
result of that discussion, one change has been made. It now specifically includes within the proposed
membership thepossibility ofappointinB ora ormore consumers ofmmml health services. Withthis
change, the Committee recommends your approval ofthis Special Commerce.
As a side time, should anyone have suggeniom an m individuals or organizations which should be
represented, please let me know and I will be happy to Paas there on to the Council Chair.
