Commentary:
As the Council is aware, Bar par Ges Company is planning to install normal gas disuibution lines in areas
where other construction activity is undertaken in order to avoid separate future excavation. Council
Order 98-234, approved on 529/98 granted a utility location penoit for installation of gas lines at the
lower end of the ongoing Broadway widening project. The coached Council order would anhodze
installation ofps lines in the remaining mea included in the Broadway widening project The new gas
lines will be installed in sidewalk areas where sufficient space is available. Detailed location and
construction plans have been submitted to and approved by the City Engineer and we available for
review.

LOCATION PERMIT APPLICATION FOR BURIED NATURAL GAS PIPELINE
To the Bangor City Council:
Bangor Gas Company, LLC respectfully requests permission to place and maintain buried pipes,
valves, caps, valve boxes, manholes, tracer wires, warning tapes and other fixtures in, along,
under and across portions of the surface of the following public strums and highways:
Broadway (Route 15), Falvey Street, Hopson Avenue
The above -referenced pipes and other fixtures will be placed in accordance with attached plans
(Stare of Maine Department of Transportation -Bangor, Route 15: Gas Main added by RK&K,
May 1998) and the attached "Description of Proposed Work For Bangor Gas 6' Steel High
Pressure Gas Main & 6" Polyethylene Intermediate Pressure Gds Main on Broadway, Route I5'.
Also for permission to piece and maintain the previously described pipes arta other fixtures in,
along, under and across the above or intersecting public ways for the propose of making
connections with such other portions of dm normal gas distribution system and buildings as may
be desired for distributing purposes.

As depicted on the enclosed set of construction plans, need] 40 meters (131.2 feet) of
parallel 6" steel high pressure gas main (ST He GM) and 6" polyethylene intermediate
pressure gas main (PE IF GM) antler the existing sidewalk beginning 7.90 meters (25.92
feet) right of Broadway center line survey station 10+038. Offset dimensions in this
narrative are provided to the centerline of the ST GM only. Refer m the plans for offset
dimensions to the PE GM. Install approximately 64.0 metas (210.0 feet) of parallel
main order the proposed sidewalk to 12.20 meters (40.03 feet) right of Broadway
centerline survey station 10+141. Install approximately 4.0 meters (13.1 feet) of pamllel
main to 15.05 meters (49.38 feet) right of Broadway emtatiae survey station 10+143.7
to make crossing of I-95 north bound on and off ramps.
Cross 1-95 ramps with approximately 37.0 meters (121.4 feet) of parallel gas
main. histall 2.5 meters (8.2 fee[) of parallel gas main to 2.60 meters (41.34 feet) right of
Broadway centerline survey station 10+182.5. Install approximately 46.0 meters (150.9
feet) ofparallel gas main under the sidewalk along the wolfhound lanes of Broadway to
station I0+228.5 where the 6" PE will tie in to the 4" PE installed across Broadway.

meters (19.36 feet) right of Broadway centerline survey station 10+289. Proceed for
approximately 179.0 meters (587.3 feet) at 5.90 meters (19.36 fee[) right of the Broadway
centerline to station 10+46695. Enttall a 1" PE gas service live aeross Broadway at
station 10+340.5. To msidon approximately 4.5 meters (14.8 fee[) of parallel gins mains
to underneath proposed sidewalk 0 9.15 meters (30.02 feet) right of Broadway centerhne
survey station 10+470.
Install approximately 295.0 metas (967.8 feet) of parallel gas mains underneath
the proposed sidewalk adjacent W the northbound lava of Broadway from stations
10+470 W 10+763. -As proposed ST gas main will lie between 8.60 meters (28.22 feet)
and 9.55 meters (31.33 feet) right of the Broadway centerline. Install approximately
29 70 meters (97.4 feet) of CPE IP GM across Broadway to me south side of Falvey
Street a station 10+576.75.
Install approximately 2.5 metas (8.202 feet) of parallel gas main transitioning
from underneath the proposed sidewalk W underneath the proposed roadway 7.70 meters
(25.26 feet) right of Broadway centerline station 10+765. Install approximately 30
meters (98.4 feet) of parallel gas main 7.70 meters (25.26 feet) right of Broadway
centerline to station 10+795 to toss the divided parking lot entrance. Install
approximately 3.0 meters (9.8 feet) of parallel gas main to hamsition to undemeath the
proposed sidewalk 9.70 metas (31.83 fen) right ofBmadway centerline station 10+797.
Install approximately 269.5 meters (884.2 feet) of parallel gas main underneath
the proposed sidewalk from 9.70 meWrs (31.83 feet) to 8.75 meters (28.71 feet) right of
Broadway centerline to station 11+064]5. I tall approximately 3.0 meters (9.8 feet) of
pamtlel gas main transitioning to underneath the proposed northbound inside has to 6.20
meters (20.34 feet) right of Bmadway cedterlme to station 11+067 at School Sheet.
Install approximately 168.5 metes (552.8 feet) of parallel gas main underneath the
roadway A 6.20 meters (20.34 feet) right of the Broadway centerline to avoid AT&T
telecommunications cable. One -inch PE ger service lines will be installed at stations
11+099, t I+130, 11+160, and l l+190 in order W reduce the possibility of having W
excavate the pavement in the future. At station 11+231 approximately 33.5 mesas (109.9
fat) of 4" PE GM will be installed across Broadway to Husson Avenue.
Install approximately 3.0 meters (9.8 feet) of parallel gas main from tmdemeath
the roadway pavement to underneath the proposed sidewalk 8.75 meters (28.71 fee[) right
of the Broadway comedies to station 11+235 at Husson Avenue. Install approximately
82.0 meters (269.0 fceQ of parallel gas man underneath the proposed sidevolk at 8.75
meters (28.71 feet) right of the Bmsdway centerline to the project end at station
11+317.5.
All PE gas mains shall be installed at a minimum depth of finished cover of 3
feet. Gas mans may be installed by conventional trenching or dvectional-drilling
techniques as determined appmpriate by the command. All gas mans shall be pigged,
capped and tested to 100 psig with clean, dry air for four (4) hours. Road and sidewalk
surfaces shalt be replaced with atone and temporary asphalt as shown on the plan details.
