1. Consent Agenda
a. Resolve 12-200, Accepting & Appropriating $4,060,753 in Transportation
Security Administration Grant Funds to Provide In-line Checked Baggage
Inspection System
Tony Caruso, Airport Director explained that this is to streamline the operation primarily
for TSA. Currently there are independent systems is in place. This will tie them all into
one dedicated system (behind the wall security) which will increase the flow through
the airport for passengers. A motion was made, seconded and approved.
2. Bids/Purchasing
a. 4WD Extended Cab Pickup – WWTP – Quirk Chevrolet - $25,290
Motion made, seconded and approved.
b. Maine Avenue Resurfacing – Engineering – Lane Construction - $374,780
Motion made to move staff recommendation to award bid to Lane Construction,
seconded and approved.
c. Hammond Street Sewer Extension – Engineering – Gardner Construction -
$236,132**
Councilor Durgin explained that Ban Air Corporation has acquired property on
outer Hammond Street. In order to make the property saleable/ valuable
requires an extension of the sewer. The account would be paid for by Ban Air
and there would be no charge to the General Fund for this.
Moved to approve staff recommendation, seconded and approved.
3. Personal Property Tax Write-offs
David Little, Treasurer stated that this is an annual request to deplete a balance
in the overlay account to address outstanding accounts on personal properties
that are deemed uncollectable. He requested approval to use approximately
$95,000 to write off personal property accounts that are no longer being
assessed due to closed businesses, dissolved corporations, change of ownership,
etc. The attempt for collection in many cases would be more than the
outstanding amount. Little stated that overall; the City has a 98.8% collection
rate for personal property.
Motion to move staff recommendation, seconded and approved.
