4. Properties with Matured Liens Overview
Staff reviewed the current Council directive to address properties with multiple years of
outstanding taxes or utilities. Staff has focused on properties with multiple years of
matured tax liens, as well as those that pose a danger. These efforts have resulted in
increased collection, the taking of properties and the resale of acquired properties. While
we have made progress in this area it will continue to be an area of focus for the coming
years. This process involves staff from numerous departments and is long and labor
intensive. We will be coming back to the Committee in late December to early January
with an update on this process.
