HomeMy WebLinkAbout1998-01-12 98-71 ORDERCOUNCIL ACTION Item No. 98-71 Date Janus" 12, 1998 Item/Subject: Authorizing Execution of Municipal Quitclaim Deed -- Mobile Home Located at Queen City Mobile Home Park (Lot 33) Responsible Department: Legal Commentary: On December 4, 1997, Merrill Merchants paid, on behalf of Thomas Holland, the balance due on a 1995 matured lien on a mobile home and the 1996 tax lien before it matured. Treasury staff accepted the payment in error without collecting the 1997 and 1998 taxes. The attached Council Order would authorize execution of anicipal quitclaim deed releasing the City's tax title. The Finance Committee reviewed this item on January 5th and recommended that the City issue the deed for the 1995 tax lien to Mr. Holland. Heller, Finance Director, is hereby authorized, on behalf of the City of Bangor, to execute a Municipal Quitclaim Deed releasing any interest the City may have in the real estate (mobile home) located at Queen City Mobile Home Park (Lot 33) in said Bangor, by virtue of a 1995 real estate tax lien recorded in the Penobscot Registry of Deeds. Said deed shall be directed to Thomas Holland, a copy of which is attached hereto. Councilman 98-]1 The CITY OF BANGOR, a municipal corporation, located in Bangor, Penobscot County, Maine, as Grantor, for consideration Paid. releases to THOMAS HOLLAND of Bangor, the property located in Bangor, Penobscot County, Maine, more particularly described as follows: Mobile home located at Lot 33, Queen City Mobile Home Park in said Bangor and further described as follows: 1986 14x72 Soyer. Said property is further designated as City of Bangor real estate tax account number 51308. Assessors Map R55, Lot 9. Being the same premises acquired by said City of Bangor for unpaid taxes assessed for tax year 1995 by virtue of an undischarged tax lien recorded in the Penobscot Registry of Deeds in Book 5875, Page 210. The purpose of this deed is to release to the Grantee any interest the Grantor may have in the above-described property by virtue of unpaid taxes assessed against Thomas Holland for tax year 1995. All public easements or other public interests in the described premises for roads, sewers, or other purposes are expressly reserved. The said CITY OF BANGOR has caused this instrument to be sealed with its corporate seal, and signed in its corporate name by RONALD I.
