Haynes Court, which is a 20 foot wide public way extends from Harlow Street to the lower
Abbot Square parking lot As the Council is aware adjacent property (formerly `Better
Homes') has been acquired by the City, and there has been much interest in creating more
parking m this area. Widening Me existing narrow Haynes Court rightof-way to include
the former Better Hames lot will maximize the opportunity to make improvements in this
area.
The attached Council Order u the first step m the process of widening a public way u
required by State Stearns. After providing the required public aofices, eta the City
Engineer will submit a written report and description of the widening for land Council
approvak

ORDERED,
MT WHEREAS, Haynes Court is currently a public way from Harlow Street to lower
Abbott Square with a right-of-way width of 20 feet, and;
WHEREAS, widening the existing right -of --way is necessary and desirable to
provide sufficient space for improving the existing traveled way and creating
additional parking, and;
WHEREAS, the City of Bangor has recently sequined land on the northerly side of
Haynes Court which is available to widen said right-of-way;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT
ORDERED, THAT the City Engineer is hereby authorized and directed to provide
public notice in accordance with 23 M.R.S.A. § 3022 of the intention to widen
Haynes Court and to submit a written report to the City Council for final action.
