SUBJECT: 1999 Long Term Docking Fees
Over the past two months the Harbor Committee has been discussing long term docking
fees for the 1999 season. After lengthy discussions and input from several boaters, the
Harbor Committee is recommending that the rate structure remain the same as in 1998.
Attached is a copy of the current rate structure.
One change is proposed in how the total charge is determined, however. Hismrically we
have Charged based on boat length from bow to stem. Some boats have extensions
("pulpits') on the bow which increase overall boat length, and impact the amount of dock
space needed. Accordingly, the Harbor Committee recommends that in 1999 we charge
for boat length from the transom forward, including pulpits and extension. Although the
unit ones per foot would remain the same, total revenues would increase by about 10%,
depending on number and style of boats.
We are requesting concurrence with the recommendation, which would be followed by a
Council Order to formally establish 1999 docking rates.
