HomeMy WebLinkAbout1998-09-28 98-377 ORDERCOUNCIL ACTION Item No. 98-377 Date September 28, 1998 Item/Subject: Authorizing Execution of Municipal Quitclaim Deed -- Real Estate Located at 1621 Union Street Responsible Department: Legal Commentary: A real estate tax lien for tax year 1963 was paid by the taxpayer. However, at the time a discharge document was not properly recorded n the Penobscot Registry of Deeds. Due to the age of the lien, a quitclaim deed is now required in order to proceed with a sale of the property. This Order would authorize release Of the City's interest in the property to the current owners, Timothy and Claire Roach. There are no existing code violations with the property, and the tax account is current. The Finance Committee recommended approval at its September 21, 1998 meeting. 9���� /J/� /g�µ•. Heller, Finance Director, is hereby authorized, on behalf of the City of Bangor, to execute a Municipal Quitclaim Deed releasing any interest the City may have in the real estate located at 1621 Union Street in said Bangor by virtue of an undischarged real estate tax lien recorded in Book 1947, Page 290 in the Penobscot Registry of Deeds. Said deed shall be directed to Timothy A. Roach and Claire T. Roach, successors in interest to Joseph R. Cianchette. IN. Councilman MUNr IPA o�IT AIM DEED The CITY OF BANGOR, a municipal corporation, located in Bangor, Penobscot County, Maine, as Grantor, for consideration paid, releases to TIMOTHY A. ROACH and CLAIRE T. ROACH, successors in interest to Joseph R. Cianchette, as Grantees, of Bangor, the property located in Bangor, Penobscot County, Maine, more Particularly described as follows: Real estate located at 1621 Union Street in said Bangor and further described in a deed recorded in volume 5148, Page 217, Penobscot Registry of Deeds. Said property is further designated as City of Bangor real estate tax account number 57100, Assessors Map R15, Lot 29. Being the same premises acquired by said City of Bangor for unpaid taxes assessed for tax year 1963 by virtue of an undischarged tax lien recorded in the Penobscot Registry of Deeds in Book 1947, Page 290. The purpose of this deed is to release to the Grantees any interest the Grantor may have in the above-described property by virtue of unpaid taxes assessed against Joseph R. Cianchette for tax year 1963. All public easements or other public interests in the described premises for roads, sewers, or other purposes are expressly reserved. The said CITY OF BANGOR has caused this instrument to be sealed with its corporate seal, and signed in its corporate name by RONALD I.
