Item NO. 98-36
Date December 8, 1997
Item/Subject: Authorizing Execution of Municipal Quitclaim Deed
-- Real Estate Located at 7 Fifteenth Street
Responsible Department: Legal
The City of Bangor currently holds title to a single-family
residence located at 7 Fifteenth Street (tax map 18, lot 86) by
virtue of undischarged tax liens for FY 1976; 1979-84; 1991 and
1995. Treasury records indicate that all taxes due for years prior
to 1995 were previously paid, but that a discharge and/or quitclaim
deed was not recorded at the time of payment. In August, 1997, in
connection with a sale of the property by the former owner, the
current residents, Irving and Gail Baxter Creath, tendered payment
of all past due taxes and other charges for FY 1995 through 1998
(first half). The Code Enforcement Officer indicates that there
are no outstanding City code violations at this address.
The attached Council Order would authorize execution of a municipal
quitclaim deed, releasing the City's tax title in favor of Mr. and
Mrs. Creath, as successors in interest to Edna S. Fye, the former
caner. The Finance Committee has reviewed this item and recommends
approval.
