Requested Action: Order Map/Lot: N/A Title, Order Authorizing the Police Department to apply, in conjunction with the Penobscot County Sheriff, for the 2017 Edward Byrne Memorial Grant Summary The Police Department and the Penobscot County Sheriff received notification that $23,948.00 is available through the 2017 Edward Byrne Memorial Grant Program. The grant requires the two agencies share the funding. The Police Department, who will act as the fiscal agent, will utilize $13,948.00 of the shared grant funding. The Police Department intends on using the funding to purchase and upgrade equipment for the patrol division, community relations unit, criminal investigation division and to cover the expenses associated with training for the department Media Relations Officer. No match is required. This item was reviewed and recommended for approval at the July 17, Government Operations Committee.
