Item No. 12-1,72
Date: May 30th, 2012
Item/Subject: Order, Amending the City's Personnel Rules and Regulations for Non -
Unionized Employees
Responsible Department: Executive
Commentary: This Order will amend the non-union Personnel Rules and Regulations
regarding reductions in force. Presently full time employees whose positions are being eliminated
and are subject to involuntary lay-off receive a two-week notice or immediate notice and two
weeks of pay, in conjunction with any accumulated earned time (vacation, compensatory time,
etc.) to which they are legally entitled. This amendment will provide employees with an
opportunity to receive payment for up to one-third of their accumulated and unused sick leave,
capped at forty days. This provision is intended to recognize service to the City of employees
subject to layoff and to assist the employee during the unexpected gap between City Service and
new employment
