ITEM#1 -Marketing
Staff and Committee met to focus on the City's marketing needs and efforts. Over the
past 6 months, this Committee has been involved in trying to learn what other communities as
well as from the state level and the regional level are doing with respect to their marketing
efforts. Discussion focused on what each City department is currently spending on marketing.
Rod McKay, Director of Communiiy &Economic Development, reviewed the various
allotted budgets for this purpose as follows. The Airport, $127,000; Bass Park, $40,000; Golf
Course, $8,000; Parking Fund, $1,900; Economic Development Division, $25,500; City Nursing
Facility, $4,600; BanAir, $5,000; Bangor Center Corporation, $5,100 and $50,000 which the City
contributes to the Bangor Convention& Business Bureau annually. These budgets total upwards
to over a quarter of a million dollars.
After review and discussion of each departments marketing budgets, Councilor Aube
aslced that the marketing activities/costs be broken down in more detail to reflect what is spent
for each department's actual marketing efforts and brought back to the Committee for further
discussion.
Meeting adjourned at approximately 6:00 PM.
